Life is good. I am in Faro, Portugal and I'm in above freezing weather (average of 10 C). It's wonderful compared to the zero to sub-zero temperatures in Toronto. Although this may shock most of you, I'm more ecstatic to be here at the
International Conference on Information Visualization Theory and Visualization (IVAPP).
This conference brings together researchers and academics in the field of information visualization or, as I like to call it, data visualization. There are some interesting topics including:
- Visualizing Dynamic Quantitative Data in Hierarchies (TimeEdge Trees)
- Visual analysis of document triage data
- Interactive Search and Result Visualization for Content Based Retrieval
Yes, all the topics sound intimidating, but data visualization is more than presenting data in a meaningful way, but also to communicate concepts. I'm sure with some nice diagrams I will have an "
a-ha!" moment.
Take on me IVAPP!
I will summarize my thoughts on the key seminars I attend in my next post. Until next week!
